Why am I a doula?

My passion for doula’ing is rooted in my childhood. I was raised by strong women and gentle men. Mothers were, and are, the shoulders upon which I gratefully stand on.

Through my undergrad and post-grad research work with feminist, fertility and childbirth anthropologists, as well with birthing families themselves, I learned that their strength and courage are silently hard-earned. I decided to become a doula because I wanted to actively support and empower parents, and to pay the care I have received forward.

I love being a doula because I not only get to witness the birth of a baby, but also the birth of a family, whether it is their first or eighth child. It is an honor to support parents through this raw, powerful chapter of their new lives - I’m looking forward to being a part of your team.

I am proudly part of the Wonder Births doula team. You can find out more about our approach here.
